A facing, also known as a veneer, the shape or color of a tooth can be changed. The dentist can fill gaps between teeth, repair broken corners, whiten discolored teeth and hide crooked teeth.
A composite facing can be applied by the dentist in one treatment. A porcelain facing is made in a dental laboratory. This requires at least two visits to the dentist.
Placing a veneer does not hurt. Grinding the tooth enamel is done less deeply than, for example, drilling into a tooth and will therefore be experienced differently. If repairs need to be made to the tooth first, the dentist will give you a local anesthetic.
